We at TelEnergy have embarked on a journey to enable true change in the Passive Infrastructure domain of Telecom Networks and clearly address reduction in OPEX through better utilization of technologies, tools, processes and manpower. This journey entails deeper understanding of pain points, sensitivity to the need for non-disruptive approach to technology insertion, ability to institutionalize and defragment the Ecosystem of cohabitating technologies and most importantly, understanding the importance TelCos accord to future scalability and robust delivery.
There needs to be a paradigm shift, driven by business economics and consciousness of profitability of the Industry as a whole. CAPEX budgets have shrunk and will continue narrowing further. Stretching the CAPEX dollar and delivering a comprehensive technology-inclusive outcome through an OPEX framework will be the call of the day. When product-yields towards a promised outcome and pricing gives way to risk sharing based KPIs and SLA boundaries, the industry would have begun its renewal. This is not distant. This is imminent. The mindset needs to change just as we need to rework the business models allowing for a still-deeper participation and fulfilling the commitment to the consumer.
Evolving an effective Managed Services model in Passive Infrastructure will not be an easy road. Nor will the journey itself be free from external pressures. The terminology of future is ‘wallet share’; not ‘revenue share’. It is only when each stakeholder in the Industry value-chain makes an effort to first deposit into the Wallet — through savings of costs, enhanced through operational efficiencies and supported by new measurable technologies; and only then draws his proportionate share from it.
TelEnergy continues to take steady steps to make this a reality.
